windows media shutdown

I am having a series of problems with dvds I am outputting. I have a msi
neo4 platinum with a 4.4 x2 amd processor, three gigs of ram, an ati 1950
pro card , a wd 500g system disk, a wd 300g video storage disk and a 160g
wd alternate storage disk. I am using xp pro with all the upgrades and
service packs. All hard drives are sata.

When I produce disks out of my liquid editing program or via nero, I can
burn the discs successfully but when I go to play them using windows media
player I eventually receive an error message-- "Windows media player has
encountered a problem and needs to close." WMP then shuts down completely.
The disks were burned with a constant bit rate of 7 mg using mpeg audio. l.
The error message appears on a disk at roughly the same place each time it
is played. The specific point of the error tends to vary from disk to disk.
The disks contain a combination of video segments 2-12 minutes in length and
menu screens. The problem occurs both on the desktop system used to burn the
program and when palying back on my Inspiroon laptop.

Thanx in advance for any assistance.

Sounds like it could be in your editing program you are creating the
MPEG-2 files with . But we need more specifics. What is your source ? A
capture from satellite/ VHS ? What programs are you using for eding/
authoring ? More detail please ..
