Windows Media Player....should I be concerned!

Hello-I purchased a new laptop that has about 12 programs according to my
"add/remove programs" section. Yesterday, while I was on the
internet(dial-up) a message popped up from my system tray something along the
lines that "Viewpoint Manager updates are being search for..". So I clicked
"x" to stop it. So I went to "add/remove programs" and it now reads
"Viewpoint Manager (remove only) Size 1.45MB". I confident that the
Viewpoint Manager program was not on the list originally and only appeared
after I click the "x"!

Meanwhile, the program listed after Viewpoint Manager is "Viewpoint Media
Player Size .70MB". So then I felt a little at ease to know that VP Manager
is probably associated with VP Media Player. The odd thing though is that
when I click on my "Windows Media Player" icon thats located on my desktop
its Windows Media Player 9.0. When I went into properties I was hoping it
would show something about Viewpoint Manager but it doesn't. So it leads me
to believe that I have Windows Media Player and Viewpoint Media Player. The
odd thing is that I can't seem to find a way to OPEN Viewpoint Media Player.

So I went to Viewpoint.com this morning and read something along the lines
that Viewpoint Manager by default automatically looks for updates DAILY and
that Viewpoint Manager is typically installed on a pc because its part of a
larger program such as AIM to view rich, 3-D graphics.

In addition, I installed ZoneAlarm Pro 5.5 today and now a ZA progam alert
message appears asking me if I want to allow/deny access for Viewpoint Manger
to access the internet. For now, I'm clicking on "deny" until I find out if
Viewpoint Media Player and Viewpoint Manager is safe to use. By the way, I
have installed Roxio 5.0 and Intervideo WinDVD. Maybe Viewpoint Media Player
was part of their installation process but I dont know.

In conclusion, I just want to see what I need to do with Viewpoint Media
Player and Viewpoint Manager. In otherwords, should I delete them because my
security is at risk? Should I not allow Viewpoint Manager access the
internet for updates? Should I delete Viewpoint Media Player and Viewpoint
Manager but then will I not have a Media player to play music, etc? And so
on and so on. Any advice would be greatly appreciate. I will check this
post periodically for suggestions. Thank you. Rochelle.

Do a Google search on Viewpoint etc and see if you are then provided with
info on what it is that insatlled itself.
