Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) problem, KB319101 DOES NOT HELP!

Enrico

Hello all,

on a WinXP Pro I have the problem described here:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;319101 (I get the
error message "Windows cannot display the properties of this connection.
Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) might be corrupted").
I have scrupulously followed the instructions given there to solve this
problem with no avail, the problem is still here!

Does anybody know what else can I try apart from reinstalling the OS (I
don't have an old Restore Point)??

TIA!
Enrico

If a system file is missing or bad, there's the possibility that it can be
restored...

Put the XP CD in the drive

Click START|RUN
Type... "cmd" (no quotes) <enter>
Type... "sfc /scannow" <enter>

Note the space between the "c" and the "/"

Thanks for your help, I've tried this along with everything else I could
think of but... eventually I had to reinstall the system!(
Even a "system repair" installation (dunno the exact English translation of
this function) didn't work, I had to do a complete reinstallation!
I'm very pissed off...

Anyway, thanks again for your reply..
Ciao, Enrico.
