Hello,

I've got XP Pro SP2 that had been running fine for over a year until about 2
weeks ago. According to the event viewer, on 9/20/06 my Windows Management
Instrumentation unexpectedly terminated and was automatically restarted. I
don't know what caused this (I didn't install any new software or anything)
but it has been happening ever since, and because other services are
dependent on it, they keep stopping and starting. It's getting to the point
that the computer is almost unusable. How can I fix WMI so it doesn't keep
terminating? Thanks very much for the help.

Thanks for the help. I downloaded and ran the diag tool but it found
nothing. Should I move on to the next steps?

I would perform the next steps, it shouldn't hurt your computer.
