Windows Mail

Every time I click onto Windows Mail (usually by accident) all the messages
in my Yahoo inbox leave my inbox and migrate to Windows Mail. I've never used
Windows mail for anything so don't know why this happens. How can I stop
it....any advice gratefully received! Thank you

The same thing just happened to me. I, too, have never used Windows mail.
All my email transferred over - 2 copies of each email. Unfortunately I
don't have an answer for you; I just wanted to let you know you are not
alone. Anyone else?

How is it possible that one can " accidentally " click onto Windows mail ?
If ...
1. You don't have a Windows Mail shortcut on your desktop, and
2. You remove it from the Start menu,
You won't even have a chance to know of its presence.

Windows Mail can't accidentally download email unless you have
set up a valid mail account in it. You can either disable that account
in WM so it doesn't download, or you can configure WM to leave a
copy of the messages on the server:
Go to Tools, Accounts, select your mail account, Properties, Advanced,
select "Leave a copy of messages on server."

Many thanks for replying to my query. I've done this up to a point but I
when I go to ;advanced' the option of 'Leave a copy of messages on server'
simply isn't there.

I think this problem came about because I tried to send emails from the form
that pops up when you try to get info from various websites. The Windows
email form that comes up simply wouldn't let me send emails. Kept saying that
btinternet wasn't recognized or something. I then went into Windows email to
try to find out what to do and that's when my emails started migrating. Wish
I'd never bothered! If I succeed in removing it, will all those emails simply
disappear?

The only time that he option "Leave a copy of messages on server" is
not available on the Advanced tab of Properties is when you've set up
an IMAP account instead of a standard POP3 account. IMAP accounts
always leave messages on the server.
You can disable the account by removing the server names on the
Servers tab.

Removing the account does not make the messages disappear from
Windows Mail.

Unless you have a desktop email client program like Windows Mail,
you won't be able to click on MailTo links or forms on websites
(at least not without a third party hack).

If you want, we can help you set up that btinternet account correctly
in Windows Mail.
