Windows Mail

I have kind of a simple thing I can't seem to figure out. I'd like my
current contact list to be shown on the left column when I open Windows Mail.
Right now it's only on the tool bar and I cannot just click on a contact's
name to create mail to them. Can anyone help me?
 
Sorry, Windows Mail can't do that.
The Microsoft recommended way for starting a new email is:
Click Create Mail.
Click To:
Select recipient(s).
