WINDOWS MAIL

Hello All,

I'm having serious complications with setting up my new windows mail
account. I do not have outlook & just bought a new pc w/ Windows Vista. I've
been using Yahoo & Gmail for email but every time I attempt to enter the
account info I get this

The host 'IMAP' could not be found. Please verify that you have entered the
server name correctly.
Subject 'test', Account: 'IMAP', Server: 'IMAP', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25,
Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 11001, Error Number: 0x800CCC0D

Can any one please help? I'm desperate...

"IMAP" is not a valid name for a mail server.
You need to get the mail setup instructions from your mail provider.
These Gmail instructions are for Outlook Express, but it should work:

I have the same probleme but I think Windows Mail are not interested of our
complain.
If Windows Mail do not answer within 10 days I wil take it off from my
computer.

IMAP is not a valid server name. Ask you email provider (who is probably
also your internet provider) for their instructions to set up to use their
email
server. If they haven't written instructions for Windows Mail yet, use
their
instructions for Outlook Express instead but under Windows Mail. The
instructions are probably somewhere on their web site. Or, you could
wait and see if anyone here already knows where to find them.

Windows Mail is a part of Vista and cannot be removed without
removing all of Vista. You can hide it, though.

You may prefer to download and install Windows Live Mail, a more
recent program from Microsoft that will connect to some servers
that Windows Mail will not connect to.

Windows Mail cannot answer, as it's a computer program.

You need to find out what the settings are to access your email account.

mine sez cannot connect to imap server dur to low memory i have 1 gig system
is fast

Problems such as this are often caused by your antivirus programs.
Which if any such programs do you have?

Download and install this fix, with Windows Mail not running:

Although it is labelled as for mail stuck in the Outbox, it often cures
other problems with Windows Mail. If you don't know whether to
use the 32-bit version or the 64-bit version, try the 32-bit version
first.
