R

From one day to the next Windows Mail stoppec sending any messages. I get a
time-out error. I get the error using different smtp servers.
If I use Outlook I can send messages using the same smtp settings used in
Windows Mail.

What to do?

Email scanning should be turned off in any anti-virus. Also exclude EML
files from the scan. It provides no protection not provided by the regular
resident protection.
Besides that, McAfee,Trend and Norton are not compatible with Windows Mail
and Outlook Express and should be uninstalled. The latest version of
Trend's anti-virus seems to be causing problems too.

Right-click on the error message, copy, then paste it into a reply here.
We can't do much troubleshooting without the complete error message.

Windows Mail is very susceptible to interference from common antivirus
programs. Which antivirus are you running? Some of them are not fully
compatible with Windows Mail.
