I'm running windows vista home premium with norton antivirus protection.
Up until last Thursday my email was working perfectly fine. I then noticed
that everytime I clicked 'send/receive' it was much slower. It now sticks on
'authorizing' for about 30 secs where as before it was instantaneous. I am
able to receive and send emails but this is so annoying!
Can anyone offer any help, or please tell me if they're having the same
problem?

Windows Mail is not compatible with most McAfee and Norton
antivirus programs. Those will need to be uninstalled, NOT
just disabled.

After uninstalling your non-compatible antivirus, download
and install a more compatible antivirus like:

AVG free edition:
http://free.grisoft.com/doc/5390/us/frt/0?prd=aff
or
Avast free edition:
http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html

With either of those, during the install phase you must select custom
install, and then deselect the email scanning option.
For more on why email scanning is bad, see
