Windows Mail shuts down when I try to open an attachment

When I receive emails with attachments; video clips, photos or documents,
and I try to open the attachment, it shuts down my email and restarts it. I
have to save the attachment then open it. Then sometimes it will open to view
the attachment. Not sure what is going on. Can anyone help. I am running
Vista and a triple core HP Pavillion a6430F PC

Which antivirus are you running? Some of them are not fully compatible
with Windows Mail.

i too have the same problem .i am running vista as well i also un
nortons anti virus . do you know of any solutions !!!!

That is a known issue caused by a recent update to Norton antivirus.
There may be a newer update that corrects the problem, so
first try updating Norton. If no joy, uninstall and follow up with their
debris removal tool:

If you like, we can recommend a more compatible free antivirus.
Also, several Norton users with that problem have reported that when
they complained to Norton's online chat help, the tech upgraded them
to Norton Antivirus 2009, which cured the problem.
