I have a Gateway GT5432 with windows Vista....We have verizon DSL.......My
problem is I have an MSN account I want to use the account on this....but
when I put my email in it tells me that it does not support MSN or other
older windows account. This is the message I get:

"The message could not be sent. The authentication setting might not be
correct for your outgoing e-mail [SMTP] server. For help solving this
problem, go to Help, search for "Troubleshoot Windows Mail", and read the
"I'm having problems sending e-mail" section.

Account: 'incoming.verizon.net', Server: 'outgoing.verizon.net', Protocol:
SMTP, Server Response: '550 5.7.1 Authentication Required', Port: 25,
Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 550, Error Number: 0x800CCC78

Will I have to set a new account and if not what am I doing wrong???? I have
tried everything it has told me to do PLEASE help!!!

Hmmm, the error message says nothing about an MSN account.

To make that error message go away, you will have to enable
authentication like it says:
Tools, Accounts, select the incoming.verizon.net account,
Properties, Servers, click the box for "My server requires authentication".
