Hi,I have checked all server settings but all in order.AV is AGV Free, have
custom installed this to disable email scanner,to no avail.Had a trial
version of Norton and uninstalled this using the Norton Uninstall program off
their site.
Same message regardless of email address being sent to.
This is driving me nuts...

The message could not be sent. The authentication setting might not be
correct for your outgoing e-mail [SMTP] server. For help solving this
problem, go to Help, search for "Troubleshoot Windows Mail", and read the
"I'm having problems sending e-mail" section. If you need help determining
the proper server settings, please contact your e-mail service provider.

The rejected e-mail address was '(e-mail address removed)'. Subject
'house', Account: 'POP3.slingshot.co.nz', Server: 'SMTP.slingshot.co.nz',
Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '550 #5.1.0 Address rejected
(e-mail address removed)', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 550,
Error Number: 0x800CCC79

You may have to ask Slingshot for help with this:

http://www.slingshot.co.nz/DesktopDefault.aspx?tabindex=5&tabid=8

Also, server names are usually entered with no CAPITAL LETTERS,
So you might try that.

I assume that your connection to that server does not cross over from
one internet provider's equipment to another's along the way to the
server. If it does, such connections to port 25 are often blocked to
cause problems for spammers, so you might want to ask if you can
use some other port instead for outgoing mail, and if so, the details
of how to switch to the other port. Just trying all the ports is a very
slow way to find out - there are about 65,000 ports available.

When you received that error message, who was providing your
connection to the Internet? Was it a different entity than Slingshot?

When you set up the pop3 and smtp, try pop-server.slingshot.co.nz and
smtp-server.slingshot.co.nz. hope this helps.

Why are you giving the OP this bad advice? The server names you
suggested don't even exist!

no change, will contact ISP and get back to you.
Thanks

When adding your outgoing and incoming mail client " pop3 = pop-server and
smtp = smtp-server then the rest of you server information. Example:
pop-server.cfl.rr.com, smtp-server.cfl.rr.com. OK

For a few email providers. Not for many of them, though.

And I repeat, why try non-existent mail server names???
This is not some sort of trial-and-error game...
All mail providers publicize the exact names of their mail servers
on their website, so there is no need to guess.
