Windows mail not available as default

How do I set Windows mail as my default? Myself and my internet service
provider are not able to set Windows Mail as my default email from the "Set
your default programs" window. As a result, I can't send photos from Windows
Photo Gallery. My ISP and I select "Tools/ Make default" from windows mail,
but it reverts back to "not default" as soon as I close the tools window.
Computer is one week old and came with Vista - not impressed so far.

I should clarify... the "set your default programs" window only has "Windows
Mail (News)" available in this window. It is currently set as default. We
are not, however, able to get Windows mail as my default, and we (ISP help &
I) don't see any information on what exactly is set as my default email.

Just asking for more information since you don't mention it....You do have Windows Mail already set up to send/receive email from your ISP?

Possibly. It's not my website, and I have no way of determining the
original author. What is important is getting the information to the OP
as expeditiously as possible.

That's yet another Rip-off?

I knew, Gary. I certainly appreciate the help you provide in this NG.
My concern was only directed at the owner of that site.

Hi Shawn,

Not questioning your intentions. We all want to help, and that's what we've been doing for years. That's isn't the only key, and this article is not the only one I'm talking about.

Just FYI, acknowledging the source of the copyrighted material does not substitute for obtaining permission.

When in doubt (if it comes under "Fair use" or if I wanted to republish an article, I always seek the permission from the copyright owner, and give him due credit.

Thanks!

Hi Ramesh,

I am not the owner of the site, but I am a Moderator of it and the
author of that tutorial that Gary referred to. By no means did I rip you
off. The solution was just a very simple Export from the registry key
"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\CLients\Mail". Anyone that knows a little
something about the registry can come up with it easily. Anything that I
use from other sites to help people I will clearly make noted and link
it to the site. My goal is to help people, that's all.

I know how you feel though, and I am sorry that you feel that way. I
think you site is great and I refer people to it all the time.

Regards,
Shawn Brink

Shawn,

Generally, publishing a short excerpt/teaser would not cause a problem. Problem only happens when someone republishes an entire article.

Most people don't think (or unaware) about this, and that's the reason I gave you an article as that would be an useful reference.

Ramesh,

I am sorry that I did not use these proper channels to seek your
permission on the articles that relate specifically to yours. Would you
consider giving me permission to use them as a reference like in this
tutorial below. I always want to give credit to whom or where it
belongs. I just did not think (the problem) that it would be a issue
for how I was using it.

Sorry for any trouble or aggravation,
