I am using Norton antivirus. As I said this problem just started a couple of
weeks ago.
I have scanned for malware and virus. All is OK
I create email letters and post them on my website so that people can
download them.
For persons using Outlook express and Windows mail I save them in .eml format.
When I create a letter I send it to myself and then save as an .eml. Then I
open the eml letter and remove the old addres and Fw so that is ready for
use. Then I save as again and am asked if i want to overwrite the original.
Yes. Then comes the unable to save due to an error. If this had been
happening when I first got my new vista computer I could understand the
incompatibility. I can work around this problem but is time consuming!

Gary VanderMolen said:A 'Save As' failure can be caused by an overzealous antivirus. Which
antivirus are you running? Some of them are not fully compatible with
Windows Mail. Antivirus-related problems often take time to develop,
or can be caused by an update to the antivirus program.

When I want to save something and I am asked if I want to overwrite the
original, I click yes and then I get "Unable to Save the message. An Error
has
occured". This needs to be fixed!

what could cause that. Perhaps your antivirus is interfering.

That isn't the error I'm talking about. Sometimes it saves, extremely rarely,
but nearly every time the message "Unable to Save the message. An Error has
occured" comes up.
:
I duplicated what you are seeing. When I attempted a second "Save As"
with the same filename, a "Confirm Save As" window popped up saying
something like "Windows Mail can't Save As, more than one xyz.eml already
exists. Do you want to replace it?"
I don't consider this an error. Windows always warns you when you are
about to overwrite an existing file.

Whenever I try to save a message to my hard drive a second time, i.e.
overwriting the previous document, I get an error message saying that it
is
unable to save. I used to be able to do this with Outlook Express. Is
there a
way to fix this? Windows Live Mail has the same problem.
Why not save it to your Drafts Folder within WM?
You can edit at your leisure from there.

Yes, I can do that. Thanks for the suggestion. I would rather do it by the
'save as' technique I mentioned, though, as that is what I've been doing for
about three years. It's what I'm used to, and it's what I feel secure doing.
Is there no fix for it? Essentially it is an error in the program, as it
comes up with a generic error message for no reason. It is something that
should be fixed regardless of one being able to save a message in the drafts
folder.
