Windows Mail and .PPS files

Trying to get my father's computer to open a .PPS document in Windows Mail
but receiving an error in reference no file association for this type file
(or similar wording). When the .PPS file is saved to his desktop, it opens
properly in PowerPoint. Default program listing shows the correct program
for .PPS, Win Mail is set to allow the opening or saving as attachments, Win
Mail security zone is set to internet. Anti virus is AVG.

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
