Windows Mail Account Rule?

Is it possible to set a rule that actions for a given email account?

I can find rules to act when there is a given name in the To: or Cc:, but
this won't work if the email is sent by Bcc: or to a catch-all address.

Yes. You can base the rule on which account downloaded the
message. In the Mail Rule screen, scroll down that list that has
the To and CC, and you'll see the 'account' condition.

Hi Gary,

You mean the one that says "Where the message is from the specified
account"? Does it really mean "from", surely "to" is what I need?

It depends on what you are trying to accomplish. Can you
explain what the purpose is?

A From condition, a To condition, and a Cc condition are available
in that list if you remember to scroll down in that list.

I think not, unless there is an update to Windows Mail (and I don't mean the
very nasty Windows Live Mail).

When you are creating or editing a rule, doesn't the Conditions section
of the window have a scroll bar for you? It does for me, and the only
update I've applied that's supposed to affect Windows Mail is the
Vista SP1 update (not counting the updates for the spam filter).

Where the From line contains people
Where the Subject line contains specific words
Where the message body contains specific words
Where the To line contains people
Where the To line contains people
Where the CC line contains people
Where the To or CC line contains people
Where the message is marked as priority
Where the message is from the specified account
Where the message size is more than size
Where the message has an attachment
Where the message is secure
For all messages

Nothing about "Where the message is TO the specified account"

Anyway, the strangely named "Where the message is from ..." seems to work.

Most of my rules use "Where the message is from the specified account".
It does not mean the sender's account, it means the POP account in your
Windows Mail that downloaded the message.

Yes, just badly phrased I feel.

I could be phrased better. But I've been staring at that same phrase in OE
for so many years that I got pretty used to it. :)
