Windows "Loses" Mouse

I'm curious if any of you gents have experienced a
problem similar to this: Every so often (five minutes, to
30), Windows seems to lose track of my mouse. I can move
it around, I can see it - but I can click away and
nothing happens, it can't affect any applications. Using
ALT-TAB to switch applications fixes it immediately.

Using an MS Intellimouse Explorer 3.0, default WinXP
drivers for it.

Comments? Suggestions?
 
this happened to me recently.....
is it usb mouse....might be usb1.1 and system is usb2.0?
if kensington mouse....change to belkin....
there are some good belkin mice out there with full
rebates to make it free. that's how i got my new one.
