I have an installation of Win XP. Everytime i start it i get an error message
asking me to reset the dates. It then sets the dats back to 1990 and the
active desktop fails to display.

Any ideas?

The 3 volt lithium coin cell battery on your motherboard has died
and needs to be replaced.

Have you replaced the motherboard's CMOS battery?
