Windows keeps crashing on me PLEASE HELP ME FIX THE PROBLEM

I have been trying to drag avi files in nero burning rom Ultra Edition 6, to
be able to encode them and then burn them to cd. I have done this in the
past so I know that what I am doing has in the past worked fine. I can view
the files in Windows Media Player by double clicking on them, so I know that
they work fine. Now the problem is that whenever I go to drag the file
across in Nero to encode them to put on to CD, the computer resets on me.

I have been to the Event viewer to see what errors it had. The error that
would have been refering to the crash problem said the following:
The COM+ Event System detected a bad return code during its internal
processing. HRESULT was C0000005 from line 44 of
d:\qxp_slp\com\com1x\src\events\tier1\eventsystemobj.cpp. Please contact
Microsoft Product Support Services to report this error.

I don't have any such file on D:/ when you look at D:/ through My Computer
and never have had, so I have no idea what the hell it is going on about.

Can someone please give me something that I can try to fix this issue
because it is going to stuff my computer up if I keep having it shut down
incorrectly.

Thanks for any help you can offer.

See if you have the latest version of nero 6.

Thanks for the reply. I had a look on Nero's site, and it is the most recent
of the Ultra Edition 6 that I have, but Ultra Edition 7 has come out now
which I wont be able to update to except downloading the demo version.
