windows is not visible

I had an error report show up on the screen that said
windows would shut down after I did an upgrade of msn
messenger. When the computer rebooted I had wallpaper
but no icons. Now I can't seem to get then back. I have
to turn it on and off several times before I even get the
start to appear so I can get on line through programs and
if I click on control panel the computer shuts off
again. Has anyone else had a similar problem? Any
suggestions?

Hi,

You could try using System Restore to revert to it's stte before the update.
