Hallo,

When I shutdown (or log off) I sometimes get a
error saying 'windows is currently working with a file'
and I'm not allowed to shutdown.

What is causing this error?

The pc is a standard installation with Novell Client on it ...

I would expect to see some activity in Task Manager/Processes that might
give you a clue.

Do you have offline files synchronisation enabled. If you
do, you may find that the operating system is trying to
sync these files.
Be careful when you disable offline sync - be sure the '
server' location fully up to date copy of all files. If
it does not, you will find it very difficult to restore
files from your local PC later, as these are held in a
semi enryted form under %system32%\csc directory (hidden)

All the best, Ian
