Windows Installer Unavailable for Spyware Beta Installation

M

M. Aussenberg

When I tried to install the Spyware Beta program,
installshield opened, and the process barely got started
when a pop up warned me that "the Windows Installer Service
could not be accessed." I've installed several other
programs on this computer recently without a similar
problem. I tried to "repair" the installer (using Explorer
to access the .msi file), but it wouldn't allow me to do
that either. P.S. I would have searched for an answer to
this question, but the search utility is apparently down.

I am having the same issue and tried to re-install the
Microsoft installer, I have downloaded and ran it several
times, it says that it has installed sucessfully, but
when I go to install MSAS I get the same error! I cannot
access the Installer via the command line either...

When you say "cannot access installer from the command line"--do you mean
that "net start "windows installer <enter>" fails? What error message do
you see?
