Windows installer service.

I bought microsoft plus superpack for windows xp. I tried to install it and
got the message. The windows installer service could not be accessed. this
could occur if you are running in safe mode, or if the windows installer is
not correctly installed. I am not running in safe mode. Can you please help.

I also have another issue. When I start up this message comes up every time.
C:\windows\system32\autoexe.nt. The system file is not suitable for running
ms-dos & microsoft eindows applications. "close" to terminate this
application.
I don't know if one has to do with the other so I added this.
