Windows Installer Problem?

J

JMI

Hello,

Strange problem here: when I simply right click on the desktop the Windows
Installer for Corel Draw 11 starts up!

I don't have Active Desktop turned on. I have had a hard drive fail on me
within the last few days, and Corel Draw was installed on that drive, but
why would that make the Windows Installer for that program start up when I
right click on the Desktop?

Ideas?

thanks,

Jeff

Thats not "windows installer",its probably installshield installer.Try going
to
run,type:regedit In regedit,locate:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software,locate
coral draw,R.click on it,then select delete,close out,expand:HKEY_LOCAL_USER\
software, locate coral draw and do the same, close out regedit.

Very bad idea.....totally wrong branches of the registry. Removing
references there will remove needed registry entries for the program itself,
not those affecting the context menus. Better to check directly the context
menu keys, and remove only those subkeys that are affecting this.

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\OpenWithList
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\Background\shellex
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shell
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Drive\shell
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Drive\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Folder\shell
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Folder\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers
