Windows Installer pops up with no reason

At some times, usually when I start windows search, the system invokes
windows installer and tries to install Office 2000 Standard and Office 2000
English Language Pack (both are already installed). When this happens I have
to click several times on "cancel" before it understands. How can I avoid
this?

Herzl,

Another thought on this, I just repaired my Office 2003 installation
(Windows Installer kept starting when opening various programs). I found
that there was a problem between my Office XP installation & the Office 2003
I installed over it. I was directed to download the 'Windows Installer
CleanUp'. I ran it, removed the Windows Installer registry entries for both
Office XP & Office 2003, reinstalled Office 2003 and the problem was
resolved.

ps: very surprised how well this worked

To download 'Windows Installer CleanUp':

That's inherent to Windows Installer. I've seen it happen on the most
unusual occasions. The only solution is to just live with it and rant on MSI
for long as you can, so other software producers use a real installer that
installs and deinstalls properly. Like InnoSetup.

Anyway, Microsoft should fix this. But they probably won't because it
doesn't make them more money.
