Windows Installer keeps trying to install a program

After the 14 day trial period of WinDVD8 ended, Windows installer keeps
trying to install the program. When I try to remove the program, it begins
the install loop again, then tells me it can't complete,......and begins the
whole process again. While writing this short message the "preparing to
install" window came up 4 times, each time I cancelled it, but it came up
again. How do I stop it?
I'm using XP Home and not very experienced with computers.

Hi
You may disable the service running for this software by going to msconfig.
In the Run; type msconfig & uncheck the relevant service

Hope this helps!

Thank you so much, Frank. Have installed the Cleanup utility and so far the
deletion seems to be working.

I was so glad to find this blog. I went to Microsoft Support to look up what
to because my WINDOWS INSTALLER just kept on running. The diagnostic solved
the problem. VERA
