window installer is looking for....

I have a Dell that is about 60 days old. Recently it started giving me pop-up
messages every time I start up the computer that "window's installer is
looking for something..." such as the disc to install Sonic Activation....
something else every time. If I click on cancel, it keeps asking for it about
10 times over...
I ran Spybot but it didn't help. Now I am wondering if the computer came
loaded with a bunch of programs that are expiring after 60 days. If I try to
uninstall, it says an installation is already running, you need to complete
it.
Any advice, thanks so much.
 
Often the simplest thing to do is let the installer run. It does eventually
stop. TTFN.
 
actually, it asks me for a disc that I don't have, neither am I interested in
the programs,
