Windows Installer Folder

I have just discovered that my Installer Directory is 5.29GB
In the folder was loads of duplicate msp/msi files that are the same
size, same description and same creation date.

I therefore decided to delete the duplicates leaving 1 of each file
left there.

The folder is now down to a respectable 426MB

Does anyone think this will be OK?

I hope so

We have no idea since we did not delete the files - you did. We don't know
the file types, sizes, names, download dates, etc.

The best you can do is to hope that nothing is corrupted. In this case, it
would have been better to seek advice before rather than after.

I had the same problem 2 weeks ago. The duplicate files were created in a
series of failed installations of Office 2003 updates.
On Microsoft email support I was told to move the duplicate files to another
location (which I had already done). Some of the files were read-only; I did
not touch those.
Then a week later, the MS technician wrote that if all is well and
Windows&Office updates installed successfully, the duplicates can be safely
deleted.
