Windows Installer Failure

Hi, when I want to re-install McAfee VirusScan 7 UK on my windows 2000
standard server i get the following error:
"Only administrators have permission to add, remove, or configure server
software during a Terminal services remote session. If you want to install
or configure software on the server, contact your network administrator."

Of course i am the administrator. Already tried a new admin account.
I'm in TS install mode (change user /install)
And...i also tried to install some other app that uses ms installer...that
won't work either so i guess it's a problem related to Windows Installer 2.0

I tried to reinstall the installer but that won't work. Reinstalling SP4
didn't help...pretty desperate at this point.

Can anyone please help?

Thanks, Leon

Are you trying to install it from within an rdp session? That
doesn't work with all software. Try to install at the console
instead.

Hi Vera, thanks 4 the reply!
I am indeed installing from within a RDP session. But the software I am
trying to install installs just fine (on other server on other locations).
So, I don't think that is the problem. That's also why I tried woth other
software (of which i'm also sure it is installable from the RDP session)

I found adding this key under the registry seems to help, although I'm
unsure as to the ramifications of it's use. Create the DWORD
EnableAdminTSRemote under
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Installer\ and
set it to 1
