windows installer and adobe...

Can anyone help???

When I try to remove programs I keep getting this message:

Windows installer service could not be accessed. This can occur if you are running windows in safe mode (I don't think I am), or if the installer is not correctly installed.

Also, I can't aread Adobe PDFs online and I was able to do so last week.

I've tried systems restore but there are no restore points for some reason.

Are you deleting using add/remove programes icon in the control panel? What O/S are you using?

Yes, I am deleteting through add/remove programs inthe control panel and I'm using XP.
