Windows Firewall on Domain Controller

D

Dan Pinkham

Happy 2006 to everyone..

I have a dc and a member server in a test lab. I have been wanting to use
Windows Firewall for a while but couldn't achieve a normal environment when
enabled.

I was advised to use Security Configuration Wizard to open ports so that
normal domain environment could be achieved whilst the Firewall was active.

I enabled all services on DC , which are DNS Server and AD...and then
enabled the Firewall.

Then ran SCW and let that configure any ports for this scenario

As a result, my member server does not receive GPO settings that I
configured for it, hangs on startup (preparing network connections) and when
running gpupdate, is asked to reboot everytime, suggesting that there are
policies that it is due to receive, but it never gets them

Is there any way to get this firewall to work on a DC, so that a domain can
function as it should?

All the best All
