Windows File Protection error after disk cleanup

I ran disk cleanup on my XP Pro machine and received a
Windows File Protection message requesting the Service Pack
1 CD. SP1 was installed by the manufacturer so I didn't
have one so tried the original XP CD. That wasn't what it
needed. All I could do at the time was cancel. I have
since downloaded SP1a. Now I'm wondering if I should run
SP1a or maybe SFC? Thoughts?

Will all hotfixes have to be reinstalled after running SFC
or reinstalling SP1?

Brian, I had the same problem over and over until I
download a copy of SP1A to my download file and then
reinstalled SP1A. SFC is suppose to fix files that are
overwritten but sometimes it does not work. SFC=System
File Checker.
