If one deletes wmplayer.exe (72k) it gets replaced by a 508k file with
the same name. It appears to be a dll (wmpvis.dll?) renamed to
wmplayer.

Some safety net!

Cheers,

Guy

Not here it doesn't.

You've got something unusual going on there.

It happens here on my PC (XP Pro), the kid's PC (XP home) and that of
a PC journalist who asked me to test it as it happens on his.

Wmplayer.exe is present in \windows\system32\dllcache and the dll
isn't.

Something very weird is going on.

Cheers,

Guy

wmplayer.exe and wmpvis.dll are to be found in <systemroot>\windows
media player.

What on earth made you think that I didn't know that? I would have had
to know that to make my OP!
