windows explorere does not show all files

I am not able to see some files in windows explorer.
I have the following checked in FOLDER OPTIONS/VIEW:
"Show hidden files"
The following are UNCHECKED:
"hide extensions for known file types"
"Hide protected operating system files"

However when I use Visual Basic to Load a text file I have discovered that
in one of the folders I have 6 files that I can load. Yet using explorer I
cannot see these files. Using Notepad I cannot see these files.

How do I fix explorer so that I can see these files
Thank you,
TG

This might be because a program is preventing you from seeing hidden folders.
Free Hide Folder prevents hidden folders from showing up.

They could also have a system file tag. Regardless of what that says, you
can't see c:\recycler, the folder the recycling bin puts all of its stuff.

To fix it, i would say not to give anything a system tag, unless you want to
purposly hide it. The only way to see it with a system tag is to go into
command prompt and type dir *dir here* /a:s

Hmmm.
I do not know what "Free Hide Folder" is??
I can see the contents of c:/recyler??
I have tried the cmdprompt and typing Dir *.* and still cannot see these 6
files
I tried typing dir /a, same result
typing dir /a:s did not work?

Since I cannot see the files I cannot check if the system tag is set. These
6 files are files that I created a few years ago and I am sure that I would
not have set the system tag on for these files. I have confirmed that these
6 files actually have content that I need.

Explorer still does not list these files.

Any other suggestions?

try attrib *file here* -s -h. if it dosn't show up, then i don't know.

Free hide folder is a program to, obviously, hide folders. it makes a
registry change to prevent anyone from seeing things with the hidden or
system tag.
