is it possible to disable the automatic colapsing of folders in the
directory pane of windows explorer?

Rufino:

If you mean that you want to see folders on the hard drive rather than My
Computer and so forth:

Choose the Windows Explorer icon, right click and choose Properties. The
target field will have the Explorer executable, usually:

%SystemRoot%\explorer.exe

Change the suffix of explorer to SCF. In essence:

%SystemRoot%\explorer.scf

Click OK

This will cause Explorer to open rooted in the boot drive.

Good luck,
S
