Where in Vista can I go to get a comprehensive list of everything on my hard
drive? I used to have this in Windows 98. It was called “Windows Explorer.â€
Is there some way I can see everything I have in on one screen and drill
down and expand to see what’s in each folder?

Yes...in Vista it's called "Windows Explorer" and can be found under
"Accessories"

Is this some kind of wind-up!?

Windows Explorer is still there. You can access it in multiple ways: open up
Start Menu > All Programs > Accessories > Windows Explorer OR open up Start
Menu > Computer (in the left pane) OR simply hit Winkey+E.

I agree completely. Win Explorer still refuses to display some folders and
files, even when you tell it not to hide them. Free Commander, as well as a
few other apps, will display everything.

Budda,

This file displays all kinds of Windows warnings. It may be ok, but
I am nervous about loading it into my Vista system.

I've never gotten any warnings, but if you get them, you're probably best
off avoiding the program, since something on your system obviously doesn't
like it for some reason.

What sort of warnings? Where do they come from?

I have been using it for years with absolutely no problems.
