I can't access the internet using the windows explorer button on the desk top
(says windows explorer not responding). I have managed to somehow access it
using start ,then the internet explorer icon and have disabled my add ons
somehow. How can I get back to using the desk top icon to access the
internet? Can anyone help please?

Windows Explorer does not access the Internet. You will need Internet
Explorer for that.

Ok then, whatever it's called it's the desk top icon that I click on and it
used to access the internet. It used to open windows explorer and that would
access the net and now it doesnt.

Delete the non-functioning shortcut. Go to Start, type in Internet Explorer,
then right-click on Internet Explorer (with no add-ons if that is what you're
using), select Send To then select Desktop (create shortcut). This will
place an Internet Explorer shortcut on your desktop which will work. Windows
Explorer is your file access system and has nothing to do with the internet.
