I have recently reinstalled Win XP Pro and switched it to
the classic view. When I open windows explorer I no
longer have the neat summary section to the left of the
file details. You know the one where it shows the pie
chart for how much space is left on your C: drive. It
also lets you view a thumbnail picture of the file you
are highlighting so you do not have to open it. I have
tried to get this back but I am unable. What setting do
I need to change to get this summary section back?

Hi Scott,

Open a Folder. Click Tools, Folder Options and enable 'Show common tasks in
folders'.
Note that Common Tasks pane will be hidden in Windows Explorer view (with
Folder pane enabled).

That is what I thought. In folder options I did change
the setting to 'show common tasks in...' but it still did
not show the summary stuff. Where is this other
setting 'folder pane enabled' at? I looked under the
View tab and did not see a selection named this. Thanks.

Double-click the My Computer icon in the Desktop. Do you see the Common
Tasks pane?
