Strange anomaly. I want to delete all the files in my Eudora mailbox
'embedded' folder, most of which are jpegs. I find I can only
highlight and then delete about 50 at a time. If I try more than
that, the system just sits there and proceeds as if I did not do a
delete. That is, it is not hung - it just ignores me.

What is happening?

Thanks

Duke

Just a stab. What if you do a Shift/Delete to bypass the Recycle Bin?

Will do.

But I didn't feel that this was a Eudora problem.
Anyway -
The shift -delete did the same.
I tried Safe Mode, but that did no better.
I tried deactivating Eudora but that did no better.
This is a dual boot system with both boot drives Windows XP. I booted
the second drive and deleted the files in the first drive's
problematic 'embedded' folder from that drive with no problem.
So - the files are now gone. Problem might occur again though.

Thanks

The first step you mention is important as the second is dependent on
the first. If you cannot highlight more than 50 items then you cannot
delete anymore than what you selected.

What happens when you try to highlight more than 50 items? If you
highlight 60 items, are 10 of them not selected? Forget about trying to
do the delete. Focus on why you cannot *select* more than 50 items.

How do you manage to get more than 50 items displayed in one viewed
window (without scrolling)? Do you actually have more than 50 items
displayed in just one static window before you do any scrolling? If you
are scrolling to move around to see more files to then select those, how
are you keeping the previous items selected and then selecting some
more? Are you using the Ctrl+mouseclick/drag to add more when you
scroll the list of files?

I suspect your method of selecting more files after scrolling means
you've lost your prior selection of files.

For VanguardLH have gave you the best info
and willing the help out and can!

But I now the a E-mail software pull message form your Online E-mail and
save it to a message on you Computer!
If you deleted the message with Explorer, the E-mail software put message
back,
So to deleted it you have to delete with the E-mail software first. so it
can delete online message too!
Then you be able to delete it with Explorer.

You don't describe the symptoms well enough.

Are you trying to delete files using Windows Explorer? If so, hit
<Ctrl>-<A> to select all, then hit <Delete>.

If you're trying to do this from within Eudora, try the same thing. If
it doesn't work, it's not a Windows problem, it's a Eudora problem...
ask them.

I am sorry. I just re-read your reply and now see that I confused you
by leading you to believe that I could only highlight about 50 at a
time. I was trying to say that I could not delete more than that
many. I could and can highlight as many as I please. It is just that
a delete of more than about 50 does not work and in fact is just
ignored by Windows Explorer. Anyway the problem is now gone as I said
in another post of mine. Thanks.
