Windows Explorer Problem

Greetings All.
Windows Explorer stops and displays the message Windows Explorer has a
problem and is shutting down, whenever I highlight any/all .mpeg2 file. I do
not have to try to open (run) the file, just highlight it.
The box asks do you want to report this to Microsoft and I select yes.
There is no reply from Microsoft.
I can highlight and use all other files, including mpeg1, mp3, divx,
mpeg4, wav, wmv, asf, doc, xls, flv, txt, etc. All are ok. Only mpeg2 files
cannot be highlighted using Explorer.
The problem mpeg2 files range from several years old to new. Until today
there has never been a problem.
I can run the problem mpeg2 files by opening using WMP11, or WMP
Classic, or Real Player, or ATI player, Ulead, etc. and the files play
correctly. Only Windows Explorer seems to have this problem.
I can open the mpeg2 files with GSpot and it reports all is ok.
I have XP2 with all updates, 500MB memory, 150+ GB spare disk space.
Hardware and software not changed for some time (year or so?), only the
Windows updates as they become available. No updates today, last on maybe a
week or so ago. Explorer was working correctly yesterday.
It seem that the files are ok as they run with other applications. The
problem is that without Explorer I can't organise and/or move the files.
Any suggestion as to what to do will be very much appreciated.
Thank you,
Brian.

You've acquired a software/CODEC problem from something you installed
recently. The error points to dscinemaudiodecoder.dll being the source of
the crash, which is apparently "CineMaster v4 Audio Decoder filter". MPEG2
support is provided by 3rd party software. I'd start by uninstalling
whichever video software was most recently added to the computer. System
restore to a point before you started having this problem is also an option.

I agree and also scan for Malware and Viruses on your computer run disk
Cleanup and Defrag in safe mode.

To RalfG and nass,
Based on the lead you gave me, I found the location of
dscinemaudiodecoder.dll and worked out that it was part of Radeon ATI All-In
Wonder 7500 (my video system). I did a "repair" of "ATI Multi Media Centre"
using Add/remove in the control panel.
This did it's thing and rebooted the PC. The problem has now gone and
everything now works ok, so far.
One interesting thing is that the problem file dscinemaudiodecoder.dll
has now been totally removed from the system.
The ATI setup has been installed since the PC was new a few yeras ago
soI have no idea where/when the problem file came from.
Many thanks for your guidance.
