Windows Explorer - marking Files/Folders

For some reason I can't "group mark" files and folders in Windows Explorer.
That is, click on one / click Shift then scroll up or down and mark
files/folders.
I also can group mark by holding down CTL and clicking on a group of them.

Have I changed some setting that I shouldn't have or...............
