Windows Explorer left pane additional icons

Hi,
I have created this thread in security group and someone suggested me
to put it here for better response. so here it is:

I am using Windows XP SP2.
Sometimes after copy/paste or cut paste operation of files/folders in
Windows explorer, I get the icon which is used for unknown file
extension in left pane. Sometimes, i get the desktop icon 5-6 times in
the left pane and after that whatever i click nothing works. I need to
close the explorer and restart again.

I am sure it has nothing to do with any adware/malware/virus.
If you need more info, please let me know.
Also, is there a way I can attach the screen shot of the issue so that
it may help you to know the issue better.

Thaks in advance for your help/suggestions

PS: During search on web, I found the similar problem at
http://www.mcse.ms/message715102.html. but with no solution:-(

Anubhav,

The only workaround that I know is to disable the "Desktop" toolbar in the
Taskbar.

Hi Ramesh,

Thanks. But sometimes it popups even after disabling.
Do I need to do some changes in registry entries?

No idea, Anubhav. Disabling the Desktop toolbar (Taskbar) usually cures this
problem. See if rebooting helps.
