Windows explorer hangs

Hi all,
My windows explorer hangs every time I try to access a folder or navigate
through my directory structure. It hangs briefly for say 15-20 secs and then
it would work. But it still hangs as I continue to work with it. While it
hangs, I notice "Not Responding" against Windows Explorer in the task
manager. While its hung, I cannot start anyother program nor can I click the
start button to start a program.

I have a Windows XP with Service Pack 2 and all latest updates. Do kindly
help me.

Maybe that's caused by a faulty system monitor, such as a virus scanner, so
try disabling any active scanning.
