After downloading and installing Service Pack 2 (I'm
running Windows XP Home Edition, I noticed that in
Windows Explorer, under "Windows", there are more than 30
new folders listed, with odd names, i.e
$NtServicePackUninstall$, $NtUninstallKB821557$, etc.
They are all printed in BLUE lettering, unlike anything
else in Windows Explorer. Is this to be expected after
the installation of SP2? I'm curious, since these
folders and folder names are unlike any I've seen
before. Any explanations?

Hi,

They are compressed folders (hence the color), and are backups of pre-SP2
installed updates (hotfixes). They can be safely deleted if you are not
going to uninstall any one particular update.
