Windows explorer error Ntdll.dll

Hi there,

I have had a problem with my computer for the long time.
I have just been putting up with it ever since it 1st
started, but now I really want to resolve it.

Basically, all I have to do is play like maybe two or
three vids, usually short in duration 30 to 60 seconds.
It does not matter if it is a mvie attached in an email
file, or if I play one from my hard drive that is saved.

What hasppens is, I will get a message saying something
like:
"Windows Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to
shut down"
I usally just click on it to accept the situation, and
then what happens, is the computer sort of recycles, on
the task bar (all open programs on the task bar
disappear, and all I see is the wallpaper behind it. But
the main body of the monitor remains the same. Within
about 30 seconds, everything on the task bar reappears
like magic.

This will reoccur every so often, as I continue to play
files.

If I hit details, I get this thread:
ntdll.dll

Please keep i nmind, I am running Windows XP home
edition. I am not running Windows NT, so, needless to say
I'm quite confused.

Is there a link or patch that I can download to correct
this problem??

Thank you,
Jeff

Hi, Jeff.
Please keep i nmind, I am running Windows XP home
edition. I am not running Windows NT, so, needless to say
I'm quite confused.

Windows XP is built on the NT platform, and the NT designation still crops
up in several places. I'm running WinXP Pro and ntdll.dll is in my
Windows\System32 folder, too.

Have you visited Windows Update recently, Jeff. There are some updates that
plug a security hole in ntdll.dll. This doesn't seem to be the explanation
for your specific problem, but you should be sure you have all Critical
Updates, at least.
