Windows Explorer error during Search

I use Windows Explorer all the time, searching for files on various drives
available to me via our LAN. But lately, when I click on the Search button at
the top of Explorer, the DEP (Data Execution Prevention) utility steps in,
notifies me that it is closing Explorer, and a standard Error reporting box
appears asking if I'd like to report this problem to MicroSoft (which if
course I always do).

Everyone in my department is having this problem. Has anyone else? Any fix
or workaround? ANYBODY???????

I should further clarify that this started right after the latest round of
updates from MicroSoft, principally Service Pack 2.

Is there anything recorded in the Event log?

Here is what I found in the Event Log:

Faulting application explorer.exe, version 6.0.2900.3156, faulting module
unknown, version 0.0.0.0, fault address 0x00000000.

Check here.

You receive a "Data Execution Prevention" error message in Windows XP Service Pack 2 or in Windows XP Tablet PC Edition 2005:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;875351

Now, to find the offending program/shell extension, try "Method 2" in this page:
