Windows explorer default

When launching Windows Explorer, the default folder that
the cursor is placed at is the Startup folder. I want
the starting point to be further up the tree, hopefully
at the C drive. As it is, I have to navigate to the root
each time and I'd like to get it to start there. Any
ideas?

Do not use the "Explore" / "Open" options from the context menu of the
Start button. This is for to get quick access to the Start Menu in an
Explorer window.
Usually you use the Windows Explorer shortcut from the Menu or press
WIN + E. You can also create customized shortcuts in the Start Menu or
on the Desktop. For details, see "Explorer.exe Command-Line Options
for Windows XP" (http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=314853).

Rt-clk the icon, go to Properties and set the Target as
"%SystemRoot%\explorer.exe /e, C:\"
to open the C:\ drive.
