windows explorer crashing

Hi there Rob,

The error that you linked us to is an IE error.

Have you tried installing the IE7 Beta2? It should load a fresh install of
Internet Explorer, plus you get a nifty Phishing Filter and tabbed browsing!

Give it a try and let us know:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/default.mspx

Hope this Helps!

Best Regards,

~Will

When windows explorer crashes that is the link I get when sending error report.
No I have not tried IE7 Beta 2. I was not aware I could. I will try it.

Well...let us know how it goes. If that doesn't work out...we'll go to the
next step.

After a few days I lost all ability to access the internet and could not
uninstall IE7.
I was able to use system restore to restore IE6 and internet access. I did
have to re-install IE6 though. Why this happened I do know.
Since restoring and re-installing IE6 I have had only one error with the
same message, this time it was MSN Messenger crashing. It had been crashing a
lot but suddenly stopped.
For the past 3 days I have had no problems or errors.

Yeah...sometimes it just needs a reinstall. You might want to run a chkdsk,
defrag, and if you can, download OneCare live and perform a backup.

Well MSN Messenger just crashed again. Before I rebooted I tried the internet
and could not get on. IE6 seem to just lockup. Once I rebooted the problem
was gone.
I have entire HDD backed up onto a 2nd external HDD. I also just ran a
chkdsk and found no problems.

Try opening a bunch of applications other than explorer and messenger and see
if it locks up again.

I opened several applications as suggested and IE6 was very slow to respond.
It did lock up a couple of times I tried this but not everytime.

I hope this helps. These were found at the time of last 2 crashes. I find it
odd that the error pop up initially states a windows explorer error.

I ran SANDRA-Lite and Memtest+86 and found no problems with memory. I ran
chkdsk again and found the same. OneCare Live found no problems either.
A mystery hey Sherlock?

Hey there Rob,

Yeah...sounds like a good one. Just out of curiosity, you don't happen to
have Star Wars Galaxies installed on the machine do you?

Best Regards,

No William I do not.
I have scanned for viruses also cause my brother has the same problem. He
developed the problem after we video chatted with MSN Messenger.

Things seem to be running ok now for what ever reason. I have not changed any
settings, I have updated some software though like ATI all in wonder drivers
and Mcafee Internet Security Suite 2006.

Well it happened again windows explorer crashed. After reporting the error IE
opened and said that I needed to delete temp files in IE, and gave a link to
download a utility to do delete the files. I did as before, this time I hope
it works. But I am puzzled that why would I have to delete IE temp files when
windows explorer crashes?

Windows Explorer crashed again but only after MSN Messenger did. This has
occured the last week or so. So this maybe caused buy MSN Messenger, at least
it appears so.

Windows Explorer crashed again but only after MSN Messenger did. This has
happened a couple of times in the last week. I still get the IE cache popup
only after Windows Explorer crashes.

I have just noticed that when MSN Messenger crashed that the error stated
that the file msgrapp.dll was missing. Is this a valid file?
