Windows explorer cannot open dvd

Hi,
i installed a dvd reader device on my pc with windows xp professional.
when i insert a cd with an installation programm, this program starts.
Windows explorer cannot open the cd. When i click or doble click on the
icon of the dvd-drive nothing happens.
However in a DOS box i can list all files on the cd(dvd).
Any help will be appreciated.
