I have seen this on two of my machines so far. One is running Windows 2000
Server and the other Windows 2000 Professional. Both have all the most
recent MS updates. Whenever I right click on a file, the screen refreshes
and I am brought back to the desktop as if explorer.exe were resetting. This
does not happen when I right click a directory however. Has anyone seen this
behavior?
I have a similar problem. I found this description on the
http://security.ittoolbox.com site, and it exactly describes what I
have. I recently installed the last few security updates. I did not have
this issue before. Sure hope we find a cure.
"Problem with right click

This has just started to happen.
When I right click an icon (on my desktop or in a folder) to move it,
delete it, read properties etc etc, The screen "refreshes" and the task
bar disappears and flashes back with some of the icons missing.
I apologize for any clarity issues in the description. It is something
I've never seen before so I'm trying to be as clear as I can.
When I right click an icon (on my desktop or in a folder) to move it
delete it, read properties etc etc, The screen "refreshes" (everything
minimizes, the task bar disappears and flashes back with everything
minimized) and the folder that I was in closes.
This also happens if I press that arrow key between windows and ctrl, if
I press delete, or if I try to ctrl+* something.
It was behaving this way for a couple days, then yesterday I discovered
that I had only 20 megs (!!) left on my main partition. I figured "well
that's what musta been the issue" I used PM to resize my partitions and
when I rebooted the computer, everything was FINE!!! This was last
night. This morning, the same troubles as described above came back again.
It's been suggested that I delete the pagefile and start over but I can
not find pagefile.sys on a search or see it where I KNOW it is, (D://)
even though I have show hidden files enabled. This may or may not be a
secondary issue to what happened though.
Any help and suggestions would be appreciated. I am trying to avoid a
reinstall
if at all possible, but it's not really looking like it can be avoided at
this point."
